The Northern Lights Drum & Bugle 
​Scholarship Fund

Are you a passionate musician eager to be a part of the Northern Lights Drum & Bugle Corps but worried about the associated barriers? We are excited to introduce the Northern Lights Drum & Bugle Corps Scholarship Fund, designed to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder your drum corps journey.

Eligibility & Application Process

To be eligible to receive a scholarship you must: 
  • Have a passion for drum corps.
  • Be in good standing with Northern Lights and/or all other corps.
  • Be committed to participating with Northern Lights for the duration of the season.
  • Have a financial need - this is on the honor system as NLDBC will not require proof of financial need. However, we encourage you to reflect on this need in order to allow Northern Lights to prioritize those with true financial need preventing them from participation without scholarship support. 

1. Complete the Northern Lights Drum & Bugle Corps Scholarship application no later than March 1 

2. Submit your essay - 
  • Essay requirements:
    • Written (500-1000 words) or video essays (1-5 minutes) are accepted. Video essays should be submitted as a link. 
    • Be creative - there are no specifications on formatting! 
    • Share your personal musical journey and/or passion for drum corps! 
    • Reflections on how scholarship support will impact you.
      • ​All applicants will be considered for scholarship, however it is important that members with true financial need be prioritized. Please be as honest as you can as to how scholarship will impact your ability to participate with Northern Lights in the coming season. 
    • Veteran members are encouraged to reflect on their previous year(s) with the corps and how you were impacted.
    • Be authentic!
3. Sit tight - Staff will review all submissions and reach out with next steps.
