STEP 1: INTEREST FORM - Opens in August
The first step in becoming a member of any drum and bugle corps is letting us know you're interested! By filling out the interest form, you get added to our 2025-2026 interested members mailing list and we will reach out with audition materials and information when it becomes available.
STEP 2: ATTEND A CLINIC OR OPEN HOUSE - Fall 2026
Attending a Northern Lights open house is a great way to get your feet wet in all-age drum corps. All of our clinics and open houses are TOTALLY FREE events where interested members can learn the technique our staff teaches at NLDBC to prepare for auditions.
STEP 3: APPLICATION - Opens October 2026
Once the 2025-2026 schedule is confirmed we will be reaching out to our interest mailing list with our application. The application includes next step information such as collecting medical releases, and lets us know you're really serious about joining Northern Lights. Our application confirms you'll be attending our FREE audition camps.
STEP 4: ATTEND AN AUDITION - December 2026 and January 2027
We will have three chances to audition in person. It is expected that 2027 auditionees attend two audition camps and one call-back camp.
If you can't attend in person, you can work out a video audition with our director and relevant staff member for your section. We are very supportive of potential members who are committed to WGI indoor groups during the winter, so don't feel like you have to choose either or!
STEP 5: CONTRACT! - January 2027
Being awarded a drum corps contract is a milestone for any performer! Our Member Agreement will come with our Member Handbook, as well as information on:
If you are awarded a Member Agreement, congratulations! You are officially a member of the Northern Lights Drum & Bugle Corps!

- What our responsibilities to YOU as a member are.
- How to get logged into our member's only communication app.
- DCI safety training requirements (mandatory for adults).

Why March with Northern Lights?
We are an all-age, weekend only competitive drum & bugle corps. We have some of the lowest dues in the activity with fundraising options and scholarships to ensure our tuition is attainable for any budget. Make connections in DCI-- our staff and veteran membership come from all over the drum corps world! From Bluecoats to Pioneer, Blue Devils to Crossmen, Kilties, Legends, Blue Stars, Boston Crusaders, Dutch Boy, Troopers and beyond! Are you a high school musician looking to get your first drum corps experience? Northern Lights veterans have gone on to march touring corps such as The Cavaliers, Madison Scouts, Battalion, Music City DBC, and more! |
