Staff applications for the 2024-2025 season are now closed. Thank you to all who applied!
Without dedicated volunteers, our drum and bugle corps would not be able to operate. "Volunteerism" is one of our Corps Values-- from our President to our vis tech and every position in between; nobody makes money on Northern Lights, and this spirit of giving back to the community ensures that Northern Lights is a "member experience first" organization.
Each year we re-interview to fill our education staff positions with the most qualified teachers. With a focus on effort, the spirit of competition, and uplifting all our members we seek educators who can bring out the best in everyone. Below you will find our embedded staff member application form for the 2024-2025 season. When we receive your application, a member of the admin staff will contact you about setting up an interview. Below that is a layout of the corps' educational staff structure and expected duties each role comes with. |

ROLE STRUCTURE
COORDINATOR:
Coordinators are the "section caption heads" at Northern Lights. Considered a leadership role, the Coordinators work as the heads of the Percussion, Brass, Color Guard, and Visual sections of the corps and work directly with corps directors to ensure that Northern Lights' artistic/programmatic vision and educational pedagogy are communicated down to coaching staff and the individual members. Northern Lights staffs one Coordinator per section for the season, and are expected to be available for most of, if not all of, the corps' rehearsal schedule.
COACHES:
Coaches are the "field techs" of the corps, often working with members one-on-one, in sub-section, or full sectional environments. Coaches report directly to their section Coordinator. Coaches have a "single instrument focus", and there is one or more coach per sub-section. Coaches may rotate in and out throughout the season.
