The first step in becoming a member of any drum and bugle corps is letting us know you're interested! By filling out the interest form when it becomes available in August, you get added to our 2026-2027 audition mailing list and we will reach out with materials and information when it becomes available.

Attending a Northern Lights open house or section clinic is a great way to get your feet wet in all-age drum corps. All of our clinics and open houses are TOTALLY FREE events where interested members can learn the technique our staff teaches at NLDBC to prepare for auditions.
Our pre-season camps are held throughout the fall after the Michigan state marching band competition season, so adults and students alike can attend! Not ready for marching band to be over? Join us at no cost and continue your marching arts education! |

Once the 2026-2027 schedule is confirmed, we will be reaching out to our interest mailing list with our audition application. The application includes next step information such as collecting medical releases, and lets us know you're really serious about joining Northern Lights.
Our application confirms you'll be attending our FREE audition camps, and are committing to going through the Northern Lights audition process to become a member for the 2027 season. Those on the mailing list should receive their audition applications via e-mail in October. |

Northern Lights offers three chances for an in-person audition at our two December audition camps and the January call-back camp.
It is strongly recommended to attend as many in-person camps as able, in order to get as much work with Northern Lights staff as you can and to give you the best chances of making the 2027 corps. If you can't attend in person, you can work out a video audition with our director and relevant staff member for your section. We are very supportive of potential members who are committed to WGI indoor groups during the winter, so don't feel like you have to choose either or! |

We are an all-age, weekend only competitive drum & bugle corps. We have THE most affordable tuition plan in the activity with fundraising options and scholarships to ensure our tuition is attainable for any budget. Make connections in DCI-- our staff and veteran membership come from all over the drum corps world! From Bluecoats to Pioneer, Blue Devils to Crossmen, Kilties, Legends, Blue Stars, Boston Crusaders, Dutch Boy, Troopers and beyond! Are you a high school musician looking to get your first drum corps experience? Northern Lights veterans have gone on to march touring corps such as The Cavaliers, Madison Scouts, Battalion, Music City DBC, and more!
