So what is the commitment?
We know. Drum corps can be time consuming. It is also expensive. But we want to revolutionize the way drum corps are run, with a more semi-professional, community-band style schedule.
What is the time commitment?
Beginning in our 2023-2024 season, we will be looking at the following rehearsal schedule format:
THAT'S IT. Rehearsals are two, 3-hour blocks separated by a lunch hour. Music and drill will be expected to be memorized on your own time so we can use our together time efficiently.
What is the cost? We are constantly working on funding to make the cost of membership $0. Fundraising is a group effort. We determine operational costs at the planning stages of a season, and then plan for what can be reasonably fundraised before setting yearly membership dues prior to every-other-weekend rehearsals in April. Historically, dues have come in under $400 per student for the season, with opportunity to fundraise and seek personal sponsorships. Students who actively participate in fundraising can lower their dues to under $100, or even get it paid entirely!
So what I do I need to do? Play a brass or percussion instrument (or colorguard), have some musical experience, be able to travel to West Michigan for rehearsals, and have a great attitude. THAT'S IT.
